Australian National Memorial
Along with the Sir John Monash Centre residing directly to the rear portion of the Villers Bretonneux Military Cemetery which is located on the outer edge of the Village of Fouilloy, France that honours the Australian soldiers who fought in France and Belgium.
The memorial lists 10,773 names of soldiers of the Australian Forces with no known grave.
The design was by Sir Edwin Lutyens, and was unveiled on 22 July 1938 by King George VI.
Walking through the cemetery on your way towards the monument you will notice rows of Canadian graves on either side and as you get close to the main structure you will be humbled by the shear presence of the moment itself.
The overall feeling tranquillity is the only word I can use from my experience visiting a little bit of Australia situated here in the heart France.
